About Constance
I was raised in Northern California’s East Bay Area, from Vallejo to Richmond. I now live in the Modesto area. I have always been interested in psychology.
As a child that I felt comfortable talking to people about whatever they were experiencing. I developed a passion for thinking deeply about why people act and respond to life the way they do.
I am optimistic about each person’s ability to enjoy life more. I also believe that life is absolutely absurd at times. I believe this absurdity can be balanced by creating purpose and personal meaning. I think that learning how to be genuine and act in alignment with our own values allows us opportunity to feel more internal peace even in a time and place that is volatile and scary.
I enjoy doing therapy and look forward to working with motivated individuals.
My Approach
I view therapy through an Existential-Humanistic framework. The goals of existential therapy are to help people be genuine with themselves and others, to increase self awareness, to accept their past, and foster a productive world view.
I am trained in a therapeutic intervention called Brainspotting or BSP. This is a mind/body intervention that supports individuals as they process trauma, anxiety, even just feeling stuck. I have seen great results using BSP in my private practice.
Lastly I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This is a useful therapeutic approach to helping individuals understand how their own thoughts and beliefs impact their decisions and actions.
Statement on culture
Growing up as a biracial female presented unique challenges, even in the Bay Area’s beautifully diverse cities and neighborhoods. Straddling two cultures taught me about how differences can be valued, spark curiosity, and present opportunity for growth. I take these experiences with me into my therapy practice. I have worked with people from many cultures and backgrounds. My clients are monogamous and non-monogamous, LGBTQIA, nonbinary, female, male, and have a full range of educational and financial backgrounds. I can’t know about every person’s culture. What I can do is take the time to hear your story and work with you in a way that feels safe and productive.
